December 2011 Ministry Update

In our last prayer letter, which we sent out in October, we asked you to pray for Jenny and the twin boys due in January 2012. Thanks to your prayers, Jenny has had a good pregnancy and the twins are doing great. They weigh about 5 pounds each and, as I said, they are due the second week in January. Continue reading

October 2011 Prayer Letter

Dear praying friends,

In the time since we last wrote God has blessed out ministry and personal lives thanks to your prayers and support. We have seen tremendous growth on our bus route over that last several weeks. In September of this year, we were averaging around 25 riders. Now, just a few weeks later our attendance has tripled and we are filling a bus! We are averaging 75 riders each Sunday.

En the last 4 weeks, we have had nearly 50 public professions of faith in our church services and 31 baptisms from our bus route alone. God is using our bus ministry in a wonderful way.

A few Saturdays ago, I was visiting with my bus partner, Guillermo (William) Santos. We were about out of time, but decided to visit one more street. When we came to the last house on that street we met a grandmother and her granddaughter walking in to their house. I asked if she would like to come to church with us. She smiled and politely refused.

Discouraged, we walked across the street to wait for the ladies to catch up and the grandmother called out to us from her balcony. I ran back across the street and she told me that her son did want to come to church with us. Julio Cezar, his son and daughter came to church the next morning. Julio Cezar was saved and baptized and has been coming regularly since then.

I love the bus ministry. We have seen God do great things through this form of outreach.

Jenny is expecting twins. She is due in the middle of January. She and the boys — yes, they are both boys — are doing great! Please continue to pray for her health and for two healthy baby boys.

Several churches have sent special offering for our vehicle needs. We have had a bit of trouble getting the part for our truck transmission, but just as soon as we get the part we need, the mechanic will get the truck up and running. We will need a family vehicle soon so please pray about what the Lord will have to you to help us with this need.

Please pray for our safety as we work and win souls for Christ in Monterrey. I’m sure you know of the violence provoked by drug traffic in Northern Mexico and though I’ll not go into detail, we have had some close encounters with this kind of violence. I’ll just beg you to pray for our safety and the safety of the people that we work with here in the ministry.

I’ll also remind you to visit our website www.jonathanashcraft.com We post our prayer letters and other updates there. You can also find us on Facebook — facebook.com/jonathanashcraft and facebook.com/jennifergentryashcraft

Thank you for your prayer and support. If your church does not yet support us financially, please consider including us in your next missions conference. I’ll be happy to come visit.

Yours in His service,

Jonathan Ashcraft

July 2011 Prayer Letter

Dear Praying Friends,

Jenny and I are excited to announce that we are pregnant with twins. Jenny is due in January of this next year. Our parents are also excited. Georgeanna, Jenny’s mother, will be a grandmother for the first time and my parents will be able to add that many more pictures to the album. Please pray for our family.

Some of you will remember that we lost a pregnancy last year. We trust God and we are praying for the doctors to have wisdom in the months to come.

Here is a fact that I just learned: it costs twice as much to have twins in Mexico! We need you to pray for our financial situation as well as our health. We KNOW God will supply our needs and we trust that He will do it through you, our prayer partners and supporters.

Please continue to pray for the ministry in Monterrey. God has blessed us with hundreds of souls saved this year. The last three Friday nights, during our weekly radio broadcast, we have had many people call in to the station to profess faith in Christ as a result of the gospel message they heard on the program. (By-the-way, you can watch us live every Friday night at 9:00 PM, central time, at this web address: www.mthebron.net/medios/cultos-en-vivo/)

Arturo heard our radio broadcast a few weeks ago. He called the church office the following Saturday morning asking for directions to the church. He came that Sunday and received Christ as his personal Saviour in Pastor’s Sunday school class. He is not the first person to come to church because of our radio program. We are excited about this ministry and the fruit that it brings.

We mentioned in our last letter that we need to repair our truck and purchase a newer vehicle. Two churches have sent offerings for this need. Thank you to Lewis Avenue Baptist Church and Pastor Steve Hobbins; and thank you to Iglesia Bautista Funtamental and Pastor Danny Ortiz. You have been a blessing to us.

We still need to raise some more funds in order to buy a newer, family vehicle (a 1999 Ford Ranger – which is what we have now – is not ideal when you have twins). Remain in prayer for this need and feel free to contact us if you have any questions or if you think you can help.

Above all else, we are grateful to all the churches and individuals who have supported us during our time on deputation and on the field. We started deputation in September 2005 and we have been on the field since October 2007. We have not lost one single supporter during all that time. Even through financial hardship, God’s people have remained faithful to the cause of Christ through missions. You can’t imagine how much of a blessing you are to us.

I wish we could visit every church and individual to give a report of what God has done through us as a result of your generosity. One day, you will meet thousands of souls who have come to the cross because of your sacrificial giving to missions not only in our ministry but all around the world. Thank you for partnering with us.

Yours in His service,

Jonathan Ashcraft

May 2011 Prayer letter

Dear friends,

2011 is almost half way through and we have seen many blessing from God. We are so grateful for your prayers for our protection. God has seen fit to keep us out of harm’s way and to open doors for the Gospel. We continue to preach and teach the Word. This year we have seen thousands of souls saved across the whole ministry on Mount Hebron Baptist Church, Jenny and I have lead more 120 people to the Lord in our personal soul winning time and 128 people have called in to our radio program, professing faith in Christ.

On May 1st, we had a big day at Mount Hebron Baptist Church. We celebrated “El Día del Niño” (Children’s Day). We had 1,394 in attendance, 283 saved and 16 baptized. Bro. Darrel Ratcliff and his wife, Buffy, came with their fair equipment to help out with the kids. The Lord gave us the victory on that day. Praise God.

On May 8th, we celebrated Mothers’ Day. There were over 150 mothers in attendance.

May also brought the spring recital for Mount Hebron Bible Baptist Institute. Jenny had 13 students in the institute strings program. The recital was more enjoyable than ever. The music was good and the students were well-prepared. In all, 30 students participated in the spring recital. Music is a vital part of our service to the Lord and we have a passion for training these young people to recognize and perform Godly music in their own churches.

On May 19th, the Mount Hebron Bible Baptist Institute graduation was held. Twenty young people graduated from our four year bible program, one of those received a diploma for finishing the strings program and 2 more received their teaching degree for piano. Mount Hebron Bible Baptist Institute is the premier ministry of Mount Hebron Baptist Church. It is where we train young men to go out and plant churches and young women to work with the children and assist with the music. Jenny and I are privileged to work in this ministry.

We have a very special prayer request. We need a vehicle. Our 1999 Ford Ranger was a faithful vehicle throughout its 216,000+ miles but the transmission gave out a few days ago. God knows what a missionary needs to get His work done and we are trusting Him to provide a vehicle through your support. Please pray about the amount that the Lord would have you send this month for our need. We cannot get God’s work done without the right tools. We know He will provide through you.

Keep praying for lost souls. They surround us here and they surround you where you are. Pray that God would see fit to continue to protect His servants in Mexico and across the world in other dangerous regions. We can only trust in Him and that is wonderful.

Yours in His service,

Jonathan Ashcraft

Missions Conferences & Trips

We have been on the field for 2 years and 4 months. Our support, contrary to our expectations, has gone down consistantly over the past year. Since we are so close to the States (150 miles from Laredo, TX) we are planning to attend and participate in several missions’ conferences. We have seven planned for the remainder of this year.  If you have a missions conference in your church, would you consider scheduling us for your next available spot? It doesn’t matter if it’s not for this year.

We are happy with God’s will for our lives. We could be more content with what he has done for us. We have EVERYTHING we need. The support that we raise will help us help others. That is why we are scheduling more missions conference. By the way, we are scheduling missions conferences and not just regular church services because the purpose of a missions conference is to raise money for the mission field and regular church service is intended for the edification of the saints of the local church.

Please consider this and pass the word along.
